In Home Photoshoot with lovely Laura
One of my favourite types of photography is lifestyle documentary, and I feel so lucky to be able to capture your family stories as authentically as they are. Capturing your family at home adds a deeper meaning. Your home is the safest place in the world and holds the most important memories of your life — first baby steps, endless movie nights, cuddling on the sofa on cold, rainy evenings, celebrating holidays together.
Some children carry a natural light within them, and this kiddo is one of them — Laura is curious about everything, endlessly friendly, and bursting with playful energy. Photographing her felt like watching joy in motion.
A photoshoot with me comes with one promise: we’re going to have fun. Real, effortless, genuine fun.
Little Laura set the tone from the very beginning. She decided it was makeup time — just like mummy. And honestly, she didn’t need anyone’s help. She chatted away while carefully “getting ready,” multitasking like only a little lady can. Sweet, confident, and keeping all of us entertained.
Then came the outfit selections (naturally!) and a sudden idea to step outside and hang out in front of the house. Simple, everyday moments… but these are the ones that make an in-home session feel so honest and alive. Laura led the way, and we just followed her curiosity.
I know, I know… you can’t wait to see the next section of our photoshoot. And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
But before we jump in, I just want to say how incredibly happy I feel working with kids like Laura — so active, so ready to have fun, to chat, to explore, and so wonderfully confident. She loves being in front of the camera, and you can feel it in every moment.
Kids like her?
A photographer’s dream.
All smiles, all happy — we had already taken so many photos. Laura’s parents invited me in for a cup of tea and a bit of friendly chatter (if I had time). Of course I said yes — who on earth says no to tea?
But Laura? Oh no, she was not done.
She reappeared in a new outfit — naturally — like the tiny fashion icon she is. And then she decided it was time to show me all her talents. First on the list? Jumping. She wanted to demonstrate how high she could jump — and let me tell you, I’m convinced she has been secretly training for a competition because the girl was GOOD. Like, suspiciously good. I think she’s been practicing when no one’s looking.
Photographer’s note: Always be ready for action!
